The capital of Hungary, Budapest is very easy to approach by bus, train and plane. When you arrive to Budapest, you might find the following information very useful.
Plane:
The Liszt Ferenc Airport is in the suburb of Budapest. You can reach easily the city centre by taxi, shuttle or public transport. The address of the venue is 1089 Budapest, Orczy út 1. (8. district, 1 Orczy road)
- Taxi: Standing by entrance of the airport you can choose one. The taxi costs around 6000 HUF.
- Shuttle cost is between 3000 – 5000 HUF and often you have to book your shuttle before arrival.

From 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., bus number 200E commutes between Terminal 2 and the “Kőbánya-Kispest” metro terminal (metro line M3). From “Kőbánya-Kispest” metro station, passengers can take the M3 metro in the direction of “Újpest Központ”. Get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
From 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. night buses are also available from the airport to the venue: with bus number 900 (in the direction of Dél-pesti autóbuszbarázs) you have to go until “Besence utca” station and change to bus line 914 (in the direction of Káposztásmegyer, Mogyoródi-patak) and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”.
For public transport you can buy tickets at the airport as well from the ticket machine. One ticket is valid for one ride so to get to the venue you will need 2 tickets. One tickets costs 350 HUF.

Train:
There are three main railway stations in Budapest.
West Railway Station (Nyugati pályaudvar) – From the railway station you can go down to the metro, choose metro line M3 in the direction of “Kőbánya-Kispest” and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
East Railway Station (Keleti pályaudvar) – From the railway station you can go down to the metro, choose metro line M4 in the direction of “Kelenföld vasútállomás” and take off at “Kálvin tér”. At “Kálvin tér” change to metro line M3 in the direction of “Kőbánya-Kispest” and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
South Railway Station (Déli pályaudvar) – From the railway station you can go down to the metro, choose metro line M2 in the direction of “Örs vezér tere” and take off at “Deák Ferenc tér”. At “Deák Ferenc tér” change to metro line M3 in the direction of “Kőbánya-Kispest” and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
Bus:
The international buses usually have two destination in Budapest.
Népliget Station: From the bus station you can go down to the metro, choose metro line M3 in the direction of “Újpest-Körpont” and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
Puskás Ferenc Stadion Station: From the bus station you can go down to the metro, choose metro line M2 in the direction of “Déli pályaudvar” and take off at “Deák Ferenc tér”. At “Deák Ferenc tér” change to metro line M3 in the direction of “Kőbánya-Kispest” and get off at “Nagyvárad tér”. The dormitory building is just next to the metro station.
Car:
If you travel by car, you can go direct to the dormitory. The adress is 1 Orczy road, Budapest, District 8. (8. kerület, Orczy út 1.) We can offer you parking opportunity on the spot.
Tickets and Prices
If you travel by plane, and you would like to have up-to-date information about public transport, then look for the Customer Service Points of BKK Centre for Budapest Transport at Liszt Ferenc International Airport’s Terminal 2A (daily 8:00-22:00) and Terminal 2B (daily 9:00-21:00). English-speaking attendants will be at your service with useful information on transport.
Every participant of the Summer School is going to get a block of 10 tickets for public transport in Budapest. During your stay, you will need 2 tickets for arranged programmes, and you can use the others to discover the city. But if you need more tickets, you can buy them from customer service points and also from ticket machines at bus and metro stations. (A single ticket costs 350 HUF, but it is also possible to purchase one from the busdriver for 450 HUF)
